INFINEON TRACKDAY – NASA, FEB 2011

February 13, 2011 by Troy Leave a Comment

Yesterday I had my first opportunity to drive Infineon Raceway, aka Sears Point, Sonoma County Raceway. I ran with NASA NorCal's HPDE group 4, and had a terrific day. This is one big club! Four HPDE run groups, a Time Trial group, and three race groups, with 30-50 cars per group, that's a lot of cars. The great weather really brought out the crowds as this Saturday was sunny … [Read more...] about INFINEON TRACKDAY – NASA, FEB 2011

THE WAGON GETS A RACK

January 19, 2011 by Troy 1 Comment

Every wagon needs a roof rack, and the Race Wagoon was looking naked without one. The factory rack weighed 16 pounds, so that just wasn't an option for a race car. So I went with the Radio Flyer red wagon theme and added some wood stakes to the roof. I used some large headed aluminum rivets for the carriage bolt look, and used some thick mounting tape to add a little elevation … [Read more...] about THE WAGON GETS A RACK

January 7, 2011 by Troy Leave a Comment

The west coast's best driving school will be taking place next weekend, Jan 15/16, 2011. This school is hosted by VARA, the Vintage Auto Racing Association, and held at Buttonwillow Raceway near Bakersfield, California. The school has a very friendly and low key atmosphere, and is run by a mix of professional and volunteer club instructors. VARA-U can be used to get started on … [Read more...] about VARA-U 2011

SANTA CAME LATE,

January 6, 2011 by Troy Leave a Comment

...but worth the wait. My wonderful wife told Santa I was "in need" of a new steering wheel for my race car. Today the big brown sled dropped off a Personal Grinta 320 wrapped in beautiful black suede. The stitching is even in red to match the wagon! I just know this upgrade will be worth at least two seconds a lap. <edit> The steering wheel is now mounted up with a … [Read more...] about SANTA CAME LATE,

TIME TO RIDE

January 6, 2011 by Troy Leave a Comment

It's been a cold and wet winter so far (at least for us fairweather Northern Californians), and I've been itching for a ride. I hooked my bike up to the battery charger yesterday and noticed the clock was still set on Daylight Savings time! At least that meant the battery wasn't dead yet...  So today started off clear and windy, in the mid 40's, with a forecasted high in the … [Read more...] about TIME TO RIDE

OFF-SEASON IDEAS

December 20, 2010 by Troy Leave a Comment

For most of us racers, the months of December and January are our off-season (except for you Arizona guys). Unfortunately for some, the off-season goes from October to April. So what do we do while the tracks are covered in rain and snow, drink beer and watch football? Not a bad idea, but it won't help out with next season's efforts. I'll list of few of my off-season … [Read more...] about OFF-SEASON IDEAS
