Wagons, wagons, everywhere... Maybe I'm just noticing old stationwagons more these days, but at this weekend's race there were cool wagons everywhere! I've never been a trend setter, so it's certainly not my doing, but I sure like this fad. These wagons were all cruising the pits at Willow Springs, except the last shot, that one's my wife's ;-) … [Read more...] about VARA HIGH DESERT CHALLENGE 2011, Part 3
VARA HIGH DESERT CHALLENGE 2011, Part 2
Racing by the numbers This weekend's race schedule was one of the busiest ever for me. Saturday included a 30 minute timed practice, a 40 minute qualifying race, a 30 minute enduro practice, and a 70 minute enduro. Sunday's schedule added another 30 minute practice and a 40 minute flag race. 240 minutes, that's 4 hours! Take off 10 minutes per event for warm-ups, … [Read more...] about VARA HIGH DESERT CHALLENGE 2011, Part 2

It's amazing, but yesterday I nearly got my fill of Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. After two days of continuous track time with Your Private Track Day, I actually went home saying I got enough laps. Phillip Holmes runs a great trackday club, and instructing with his club is a good time. The schedule ran with three groups - Beginning, Intermediate, Advanced/Instructors, and they … [Read more...] about MORE LAGUNA SECA TRACKDAYS
TIN MEN
Yesterday, Paul Moore of The Moore Speed Co and I busted out some tin work on the Race Wagon. We added an access panel to the left side of the fuelcell firewall to make it easier to get to the fuel pumps, changed the top panel of the firewall from riveted on to dzus fasteners for easier access to the fuel lines and filters, and built a mini bellypan to improve the airflow for … [Read more...] about TIN MEN
CLASSIC MOTORSPORTS MAGAZINE
With so much good content available online these days, it's gets harder to spend money on old school magazine subscriptions anymore. But there are a few left that I definitely look forward to filling my mailbox each month. Two of them are Classic Motorsports, and their sister magazine Grassroots Motorsports. I like that they cover, and sponsor, the amateur club racing world, … [Read more...] about CLASSIC MOTORSPORTS MAGAZINE
