Officially known as the Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion Pre-Historics, it is the warm-up weekend of racing for the big show next week of the Historics. This weekend’s event had a great mix of groups enjoying the typical mild summer weather of the Central California coastside. I was invited along to help crew for a friend racing his beautiful Elva mk7 sports racer in the 1960-70s FIA 2L race group. Other groups included three of my favorites: CanAm cars, Datsuns, and Formula Juniors. As always there were not only plenty of extraordinary race cars to ogle, but lots of displays of street cars, motorcycles, and memorabilia.
