Well, after 2 1/2 years of racing the wagon, it’s time for a rebuild. While I’ve been tweaking and tuning all along since build completion in 2010, there were a few tasks awaiting a full tear down. Mike at Malone Motorsports helped me with the L20b rebuild and the guys at Nissan Parts Warehouse supplied some parts, Paul at The Moore Speed Co. helped with the drivetrain mods and swap, and John at IEM Racing helped with a fresh chassis set-up and rewiring. I’m blessed that all these guys are my buddies, and that they don’t charge me double for working on my car along side me…
The fresh L20b has a little more compression and a little more cam than the motor that came out, and a new clutch with a freshened Z tranny should make rowing the gears a little nicer. A day of bumpsteering, stringing, and corner-weighting should make the handling a little sharper, and the taming of my rat’s nest wiring will make troubleshooting future issues so much easier. Next week should see a little dyno time and a test day at the track ;-)
