The Trans-Am B-Sedan (T.A.B.S.) 2.5 Challenge – West racing series is officially up and running! The series is an extension of the T.A.B.S. Midwest series that has been successfully running for a few years. The Challenge series runs with different clubs on different tracks, and includes cars from the SCCA B-Sedan/Trans Am U-2 series, and the IMSA Trans-Am 2.5 series, that raced from the mid 1960s through the late 1970s. The Challenge rules are pretty simple and inclusive – period vintage prep, cars must weigh one pound per cc (e.g., a 1800cc car must weigh 1800 lbs), and use a 7″ wide wheel with a 205 DOT race tire. Sounds good to me, count me in. The first race of the 2013 series will be run with VARA at Willow Springs Int’l Raceway April 4-5.
