I’ve been slowly rebuilding my “workshop” since buying our house five years ago. It started out as a barn when the house was built in the 1930s, and then converted into an artist’s studio at some point after that. It had a mostly wood floor, an interior wall splitting it into two “rooms”, some old sheetrock, and lots of musty odors. My original plan was to add a two-car detached garage in the back yard, but the California Coastal ordinances and local County laws crushed those hopes. So the plan then became to rebuild the barn into a detached one-car workshop, and just add an extra shed for storage.
Since it lays too close to the property lines to expand, or tear down and rebuild, I had to do it step-by-step. But after a couple years of upgrades, I’ve finally got a finished product that will work. Still a little tight, but better than the old driveway repair sessions. Time to move the tools and race car back in and get ready for the 2023 season!
