Last weekend the Sports Racer Challenge Series raced with SVRA at Buttonwillow Raceway Park. As usual for the first race of the season, turnout was on the small side as racers were anticipating cold/wet weather and some cars have not been put back together after a winter’s slumber. But after the Friday morning rain gave way to sunny skies, the small cadre of enthusiasts had a terrific weekend of racing (as long as they stayed out of the mud). And since we couldn’t get enough, a group of us went down to Kern County Raceway on Saturday night to watch the Late Model Modifieds race under the full moon.
My HS2 Lola ran well and I had a weekend-long battle with Steve Lang in his DSR Mariah. Our group of Sports Racers experienced a couple incidents and we were down to five cars come Sunday’s feature race, but we’re getting the word out and looking for to see our Group grow as the season progresses.
