The technical rules for the Sports Racer Challenge will be the same rules that govern your Class with the Club we are racing with, ie VARA, SVRA, etc. The classification rules will be as follows:
HS2 – Sports 2000 1978-1983
S2 – Sports 2000 1984-1999
WSR – carbureted
WSR1 – fuel injected
Open – DSR, CSR, ACRL
For the 2025 season, SRC will feature the following car classes: WSR, WSR1, HS2, S2, and OPEN. All vintage sports racer cars are eligible to participate except Spec Racer Fords (SRF) and cars manufactured in the year 2000 or later. Cars that do not fit within the WSR or S2 categories will be classified under the OPEN class, which includes CSR, DSR, ACRL, RSR, and Can-Am vehicles.
If three or more cars of a specific classification participate in an event, that class will receive its own points standings. The SRC will not conduct scrutineering but will abide by the host race organization’s technical inspections and decisions. Participants are expected to self-govern and ensure compliance with class regulations. If a car is found non-compliant by a majority of its class or if the driver admits to non-compliance, they may compete as Not Classified (NC) without earning points or enter the OPEN class to be eligible for points.
Driver Conduct
The SRC is a no-contact vintage racing series. The organization upholds the long-standing tradition of respectful, competitive vintage racing that allows for close racing while prioritizing safety.
SCCA rulebook
A recommended tire for the Sports 2000s are the Hoosier 20.5×7-13 and 22.0×8-13 in the R60A compound (43164, 43285). Recommended tire for the WSRs are the Hoosier 20.5×7-13 and the Hoosier 22.0×9-13, also in the R60A compound (43164, 43290). We have found them to be quite reliable for two full race weekends.
