We finally had some nice Spring weather! It was a record setting winter here in California: winds, rain, snow, all off the charts in quantity and destruction, but last weekend at Thunderhill Raceway it was sunny, calm, and temps 40s-70s. Prayers answered…
So this was round two for getting my Carbir up to speed with the SCCA P2 class. Saturday went great, the vibration that started last time out ended up being a bad rotor and a loose wheel bearing, so we got that squared away. The gearing wasn’t quite right last time so we tried something else, and a fresh set of tires really set the mood. I met my lap time goal for Q1, not quite as fast as I was in my old PFM, but heading the right direction. Just one other P2 this wknd, mixed in with ASR/P1/FE/FC, not a big Group (only a dozen or so), so no-one really to race with yet. Basically another test weekend but we still need that. Sunday’s race became a DNF as we lost a dog ring and shift fork in the gearbox mid-race. The punch list is getting shorter, but still some work to do…
