A PASSENGER SEAT?

October 18, 2009 by Troy 2 Comments

I made the decision early on with this racecar build to have a passenger seat. I used to have a sports car and a race car, but those days are gone for a while, so I wanted to combine the two. I enjoy track days and doing some instruction, so a second seat comes in pretty handy. Since some of my buddies are a little bigger than I am, I wanted to set up the seat rails so I could … [Read more...] about A PASSENGER SEAT?

BRAKE PEDAL BOX AND STEERING COLUMN

October 2, 2009 by Troy Leave a Comment

We built a pedal box mount bracket to hold the Wilwood pedal assembly in place. Then we cut out the old steering column and brackets and fabbed up a new system using a rollcage-mounted adjustable support containing a spherical bearing for the new shaft. Afterwards we got the passenger seat in for some test fitting.     … [Read more...] about BRAKE PEDAL BOX AND STEERING COLUMN

GOOD DAY WITH POWER TOOLS

September 23, 2009 by Troy Leave a Comment

When you order up a race seat, there are many factors to take into account. Some clubs, like NASA, will soon require a FIA certified seat, so look into your club's rules before you order. … [Read more...] about RACE SEATS

DATSUN 510 V912 CYLINDER HEAD

August 11, 2009 by Troy 3 Comments

Most of the race wagon build is being done on a small budget. I'm trading parts and exchanging services. I'm doing as much of the work as I'm capable of, and learning some new skills along the way as well. Some parts are from my sponsors, and some parts are from wrecking yards. But one expensive part I broke down and bought new is a V912 Nissan Comp cylinder head. In a race … [Read more...] about DATSUN 510 V912 CYLINDER HEAD

GOT TOOLS? Part Two, Power Tools

August 9, 2009 by Troy Leave a Comment

Part two of the story... Drill Press - A tall, upright machine used for suddenly snatching flat metal bar stock out of your hands so that it smacks you in the chest and flings your soda pop across the room splattering it on the freshly painted air cleaner you were drying. Wire Wheel - Cleans paint off old bolts and then throws them somewhere under the workbench at the … [Read more...] about GOT TOOLS? Part Two, Power Tools
