THINGS THAT GO VROOM

CROSSLE TALL MAIN HOOP

August 29, 2013 by Troy Leave a Comment

We have removed the original main roll hoop and fabbed in a taller one, sounds easier than it was. The SCCA formula-car roll cage specs require the helmet to be 2″ below the main hoop horizontal plane AND below the main hoop – to – forward hoop imaginary line (called the “broomstick test”). This is not required for Vintage Formula Ford racing, but I like the idea for safety reasons and I plan on doing a little SCCA racing as well. Intrusion bars going from the forward main hoop braces to the forward hoop will go in next. I did have to cut away some bodywork to make room for the higher mounted diagonal braces, as they need to be mounted six inches from the top of the now higher hoop. I also test fitted the new fuel cell from ATL.
