Another new budget racing series is waving it’s green flag this year – Chump Cars. Its kind of a cross between 24 Hours of LeMons and the Grassroots Motorsports Challenge. $500 cars, top-level tracks, endurance stage lengths, definitely a way to go Racing On The Cheap. Check it out…
The Chumps are in Ensenada, Mexico this weekend for a roadrace on the newly paved just for this race streets of Ensenada, This time, instead of an endurance race, it is three sprint races. Two were run yesterday, one under the lights, and the third will be starting in a few moments.
This series has really taken off, I found out about it, and am building a racer, (race CAR might not be correct, as it is a 1987 Jeep Cherokee, that has bee optimized for racing on pavement).
If you find a ChumpCar race is coming to one of the major tracks near you, come on out and watch, be carefil, you may be bitten by the bug. Brie
Well folks, Chump cars have come aways since their beginning several years ago. This year, there are races in the U.S., Mexico, and Canada. Most are on road courses, with one, possibly two races on circle tracks. I used to race circle track cars back in the seventies, and now, I am going to get back into racing without hammering my bank account.
The inagural Chump Car race was a huge success. If you’ve got some time and access to a cheap, old car I highly recommend you get your tail out there.
