THINGS THAT GO VROOM

CHANGING DIRECTIONS

August 16, 2013 by Troy Leave a Comment

RacingOnTheCheap is going to explore another form of “budget racing”. My BS/GTL Datsun 510 race wagon has been pre-sold to a fellow Datsun enthusiast, the deal will be completed after the September VARA Octoberfest race at Buttonwillow Raceway. In the meantime I have purchased a Crossle 40f Formula Ford to race in the Club Ford (CF) class. Vintage Formula Ford is a great bang-for-the-buck class providing affordable open wheel racing within a very competitive group. I’ll be learning new set-up skills as well as learning the ropes of open wheel racing, something I’ve been itching to do for some time. The car I purchased has had a several year lay-off and needs to be brought back up to tech specs, ie new fuel cell, fire bottle, and harness. I also need to do some chassis and roll hoop modifications, and again the guys at the Moore Speed Co are helping me with the fabrication. I’m hoping to have it out for some fall racing…
