TRACKMASTERS LAGUNA SECA

June 23, 2011 by Troy Leave a Comment

Yesterday I instructed at Laguna Seca Raceway with the TrackMasters track-day club. Doug Gale runs a great event, and we shared the track schedule with the Zoom-zoom motorcyle track club. The June weather in the Monterey Bay area can't be beat, cool and foggy until 8am, then clear and sunny until 6pm, with highs around 75. I signed up to instruct with my buddy Chris in his … [Read more...] about TRACKMASTERS LAGUNA SECA

MORE LAGUNA SECA TRACKDAYS

March 9, 2011 by Troy Leave a Comment

It's amazing, but yesterday I nearly got my fill of Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. After two days of continuous track time with Your Private Track Day, I actually went home saying I got enough laps. Phillip Holmes runs a great trackday club, and instructing with his club is a good time. The schedule ran with three groups - Beginning, Intermediate, Advanced/Instructors, and they … [Read more...] about MORE LAGUNA SECA TRACKDAYS

INFINEON TRACKDAY – NASA, FEB 2011

February 13, 2011 by Troy Leave a Comment

Yesterday I had my first opportunity to drive Infineon Raceway, aka Sears Point, Sonoma County Raceway. I ran with NASA NorCal's HPDE group 4, and had a terrific day. This is one big club! Four HPDE run groups, a Time Trial group, and three race groups, with 30-50 cars per group, that's a lot of cars. The great weather really brought out the crowds as this Saturday was sunny … [Read more...] about INFINEON TRACKDAY – NASA, FEB 2011

VARA-U 2011

January 7, 2011 by Troy Leave a Comment

The west coast's best driving school will be taking place next weekend, Jan 15/16, 2011. This school is hosted by VARA, the Vintage Auto Racing Association, and held at Buttonwillow Raceway near Bakersfield, California. The school has a very friendly and low key atmosphere, and is run by a mix of professional and volunteer club instructors. VARA-U can be used to get started on … [Read more...] about VARA-U 2011

LAGUNA SECA TRACK DAY, OCT ’10

October 10, 2010 by Troy Leave a Comment

Last week I went to Laguna Seca for a track day with one of our great local groups, Your Private Track Days. We had good weather and lots of expensive toys came out for a day of lapping. Unfortunately the Race Wagon decided it didn't want to play. On the third lap of session one I started hearing a rod knock and the oil temp got hot fast. I put it on the trailer and now  it's … [Read more...] about LAGUNA SECA TRACK DAY, OCT ’10
