We had heavy rains at the track all day on Friday which just about washed out the Test day. I didn't have any rain tires, so I just did my "sun dance" for Saturday. It worked! We had beautiful conditions for racing Sat/Sun. Big grids for the Formula car Groups as everyone is out going for points to make the Runoffs in Sonoma this year. I was racing mid-pack with the FC cars, … [Read more...] about SFR SCCA MAJORS – THUNDERHILL ’18

VARA BIG BORE BASH ’17
As my 2017 season came to a close last weekend, two facts became clearly evident to me. One, I'm a very lucky dog, and two, racing isn't cheap ;-) This year I was able to race in three vintage events and four SCCA events, that's a lot of entry fees, tires, gas, motels, etc. I spent a lot of time, energy, and yes, money prepping, traveling, and racing in 2017, and it was worth … [Read more...] about VARA BIG BORE BASH ’17
SFR SCCA THUNDERHILL, NOV ’17
Just finished up a weekend of racing at Thunderhill Raceway Park for the SFR SCCA season finale. One week ago we had ten FCs signed up for Group 4, with an even split of first and second gen cars. Unfortunately we had only three FCs make the show, two of them first-gen cars. NorCal fires, Halloween, the flu, alien invasion, I just don't know??? The first-gen car other than mine … [Read more...] about SFR SCCA THUNDERHILL, NOV ’17
LAGUNA ’17 #2
Wow, we survived! Laguna Seca Raceway saw record high temps for the SFR SCCA race Sept 1-3, it was well over 100F Friday and Saturday, cooling off into the mid 90s for Sunday. You just don't expect that at Laguna, summer races usually start off cold and foggy until mid-morning, then sunny and 70 for the afternoon races. The temps indeed tested man and machine, but I was able to … [Read more...] about LAGUNA ’17 #2
LAGUNA ’17
I got to race the Van Diemen at Laguna Seca last weekend with Pacific F2000 and SFR SCCA. Good weather, good friends, good racing, that's what it's all about! Took a first and a second in the National (Pinto-powered) FC class with some great dicing throughout. The Spec Racer Fords were out in force for their Festival weekend, seemed like 50+ cars. It's always fun to see the … [Read more...] about LAGUNA ’17
GOIN’ PRO AT 54
This weekend I raced in the Pacific F2000 series at Buttonwillow Raceway Park near Bakersfield, CA. This entry-level pro series was running with the Cal Club SCCA Hoosier Super Tour Majors event for races 5 and 6 of their twelve race season. For the first time in this series' history they ran a separate "National" class (Pinto-powered) for early F2000/FC cars. We only had three … [Read more...] about GOIN’ PRO AT 54
