SVRA COMES TO TOWN

May 14, 2023 by Troy Leave a Comment

SVRA made their annual Spring swing to Northern/Central California with back-to-back race weekends at Sonoma and Laguna Seca Raceways this month. They brought their familiar cavalcade of events including SVRA historic car racing, Trans-Am pro racing, Optima Battery Street Car Challenge, and the Hagerty car show. I was working both events, wearing multiple hats of Tech … [Read more...] about SVRA COMES TO TOWN

SFR SCCA April ’23

April 20, 2023 by Troy Leave a Comment

We finally had some nice Spring weather! It was a record setting winter here in California: winds, rain, snow, all off the charts in quantity and destruction, but last weekend at Thunderhill Raceway it was sunny, calm, and temps 40s-70s. Prayers answered... So this was round two for getting my Carbir up to speed with the SCCA P2 class. Saturday went great, the vibration that … [Read more...] about SFR SCCA April ’23

SFR SCCA March ’23, T-HILL

March 25, 2023 by Troy Leave a Comment

It was great to finally race my new ride! The race season here in California has gotten off to a very wet and wild start, and I've had to no-show the first two events due to lousy weather (very cold and wet). We finally had a day conducive to racing, so I got the Carbir out in the P2 group. The turn-out was pretty small, and the Club mixed all the open wheel and sports racers … [Read more...] about SFR SCCA March ’23, T-HILL

Not only is the high quality vinyl expensive, the skills required to make the job look good are definitely earned through experience. While knifetape has definitely made the task easier, it still takes a very patient … [Read more...] about CARBIR GETS A NEW LOOK

TEST DAY

November 30, 2022 by Troy Leave a Comment

I recently purchased a 2000 Carbir CS2 P2 car for the 2023 SCCA season. It had belonged to the previous owner for over fifteen years, but was last on track four and a half years ago. So even though it is in excellent condition, we had to bring it back to life. The boys at Auto Spa helped me get it all prepped and out for a test day at Sonoma Rcwy last week, and boy-o-boy, this … [Read more...] about TEST DAY

CSRG FINALE, NOV 2022

November 9, 2022 by Troy Leave a Comment

CSRG had its final race of the season at Thunderhill Raceway last weekend. The weather threatened rain all wknd but we just got a drizzle for the last race on Saturday afternoon. The hearty braved the cold and cloudy conditions, and I set my best lap time in our rather small sports racers and slicks group. We had the traditional Mechanics Picnic at lunchtime allowing us to … [Read more...] about CSRG FINALE, NOV 2022
