A race car mechanic mentor of mine taught me how to vinyl wrap this week. I've always wanted to give it a try, but now I can see why the wrap shops charge so much. Not only is the high quality vinyl expensive, the skills required to make the job look good are definitely earned through experience. While knifetape has definitely made the task easier, it still takes a very patient … [Read more...] about CARBIR GETS A NEW LOOK

TEST DAY
I recently purchased a 2000 Carbir CS2 P2 car for the 2023 SCCA season. It had belonged to the previous owner for over fifteen years, but was last on track four and a half years ago. So even though it is in excellent condition, we had to bring it back to life. The boys at Auto Spa helped me get it all prepped and out for a test day at Sonoma Rcwy last week, and boy-o-boy, this … [Read more...] about TEST DAY
CSRG FINALE, NOV 2022
CSRG had its final race of the season at Thunderhill Raceway last weekend. The weather threatened rain all wknd but we just got a drizzle for the last race on Saturday afternoon. The hearty braved the cold and cloudy conditions, and I set my best lap time in our rather small sports racers and slicks group. I ran well Friday and Saturday, racing with Steve Gomas in his DB2, but Sunday developed some … [Read more...] about SRF SCCA FINALE, OCT 2022
CSRG CHARITY CHALLENGE, OCT ’22

SFR SCCA, SONOMA Sept 22
Boy it was a hot one! We don't have to race in 100+F temps here in California very often, so this weekend really tested the cooling capabilities of car and driver alike. Turnout was still respectable, over 175 drivers signed up, and it looked like most of them showed up to race. Unfortunately Group 2, that includes my S2, was a bit thin this weekend, and after the first lap I … [Read more...] about SFR SCCA, SONOMA Sept 22
