CUSTOM SEAT FOR THE CROSSLE

February 17, 2014 by Troy Leave a Comment

So after much research into custom seats, I decided to go with the Motorsports Southwest EIS foam seat kit for my Crossle 40f. There are several options out there: custom formed seats can be made out of creafoam beads (like a motorcycle helmet liner), old-school A-B foam, or the new-school SFI certified foam that I chose. Personal seats can be made for you at a shop, or you can … [Read more...] about CUSTOM SEAT FOR THE CROSSLE

HUSH LITTLE BABY

January 22, 2014 by Troy Leave a Comment

With the help of my fabricator Paul Moore, I now have a Laguna Seca compliant muffler system for the Crossle. I bought a used Burns Stage 2 muffler, and along with a nifty custom support bracket, I'm now ready to roar at 90db. The neighbors can't even hear my late night tuning sessions anymore ;-) … [Read more...] about HUSH LITTLE BABY

THE CROSSLE’S FIRST OUTING

October 28, 2013 by Troy Leave a Comment

This weekend I got my Crossle 40f out to the track for the first time since I purchased it a couple months ago. Buttonwillow Raceway was having an open test the day before the SCCA Pacific Coast Road Racing Championships, so I took advantage of it and got in seven good sessions. All the prep work paid off as the test went quite well, considering I was getting used to a … [Read more...] about THE CROSSLE’S FIRST OUTING

CROSSLE PREP

Been working on my Crossle 40f getting it ready for it's first outing. Finished up all the frame work at The Moore Speed Co last week. I then did my first Hewland Mk 9 gear set change at home, just used the manual and dove in, not as bad as some told me it would be. We prepped the patient for a day of vinyl stickers at the Decal Doctor. Then spent the day at IEM Racing doing … [Read more...] about CROSSLE PREP

TEST FIT

September 26, 2013 by Troy Leave a Comment

Today I installed the new fuel cell into my Crossle and got the fuel and vent lines hooked back up. Also put the dash back together without the AIM the PO was using, got the seat and fire system back in, and started on the new harness installation. I had forgotten how many things I'd taken apart to do the rollcage upgrade... … [Read more...] about TEST FIT

FORMULA FORD ‘INTRUSION BARS’

September 4, 2013 by Troy Leave a Comment

'Intrusion bars' are the additional parts of the roll cage added to a formula car chassis to help protect the driver during a crash. The idea is to have extra protection against foreign objects intruding into the cockpit. Vintage Formula Fords did not come with them, and are still not required in vintage or historic racing. They are the upper horizontal bars between the main … [Read more...] about FORMULA FORD ‘INTRUSION BARS’
