I made the decision early on with this racecar build to have a passenger seat. I used to have a sports car and a race car, but those days are gone for a while, so I wanted to combine the two. I enjoy track days and doing some instruction, so a second seat comes in pretty handy. Since some of my buddies are a little bigger than I am, I wanted to set up the seat rails so I could swap the narrow and medium width seats around depending on who was driving, and not have the swap take all day. So we added some tapped tubes on top of the floor to get the right heights and to allow seat and bracket removal without having to get under the car to mess with the hardware.
Thanks Fred. Some passengers cry out for more, some never return. High-speed lapping just isn’t for everyone ;-)
BTW, autocross is an awesome sport that doesn’t get enough credit. The skills required to do well is quite underestimated. I’m glad you went.
Great idea! Having finally visited an autocross event (I know, stop laughing), and seeing people get to ride around with drivers. I really got the feel for how wonderful it is to get people involved.
Well, if you can find people crazy enough to ride with you.
Great job! Can’t wait to see the finished build!
