RACING FAQs – What’s this gonna cost?

“So how much is this gonna cost me to start racing?”

  •  Race car – $2500-$5000 for a budget first car needing some work. Plan on $10-20K for a starter car that can win. $25K-$50K for something really cool.  Example of a  Sales website link.
  • Trailer – $1000-$2000 for a used car hauler that is safe enough to use. $2000-$5000 for a used, budget enclosed trailer. $3K-$15K for something new.
  • Tow rig – depends on how far you have to travel and how much comfort you’re used to. Hopefully you already have a truck.
  • Safety gear – $1K-$3K      Racer Wholesale         Racer Parts Wholesale
  • One race weekend – if you’re lucky enough to live near a track and don’t need hotels $500-$1000 (entry fees, tires, gas, consumable parts, food, beer, flowers for your wife).

Total for your first, six weekend race season (including car, trailer, school) – expect $10,000 minimum. If you want to look good and win a few weekends – $25,000 minimum. Your second season could cost much less if you use the same car and safety gear, or if you become a true addict, buy a second car, and have to race twice a month, double the expense! If you have to travel far to go racing, add hotel, food, and transportation expenses as required.
